California Recent Arrests is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, provide or remove booking photos, post bond, or obtain official records. Those requests must go to the agency, court, jail, or locator that holds the information. California's county booking and custody records are held by different agencies, so this site cannot give one statewide answer about a person's current status. Use the route list below and confirm details at their source.
Choose the California Record Holder
California has no single statewide county-jail roster or booking office. Start with the arrest location and the kind of record you need. The county directory routes to county sources, while state and federal custody systems have separate search tools.
- County arrest and roster records: use the County Directory to reach the county that handled the booking. Roster coverage and posting rules vary. For one person's custody alerts, see VINE Arrest Check.
- Booking record, photo, or wanted-list question: the California recent arrests home page explains the photo landscape, what a record may contain, and how to ask the originating county for an official copy or photo. Its warrants section points to official checks and lists.
- Court case: use the California Courts directory of Superior Courts to find the court for the county. Court case details and custody status are separate records.
- California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrest news or records: check CHP News and Alerts for agency publications. For a record request, follow the CHP California Public Records Act instructions.
- State-prison custody: use CDCR's California Incarcerated Records and Information Search (CIRIS). This is a state-prison lookup, not a fresh county booking feed.
- Federal or immigration custody: check the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator for federal prison custody or the ICE Online Detainee Locator for immigration detention. The BOP locator does not provide booking photos.
- Immediate danger: call 911. This reference site is not an emergency service and cannot dispatch help.
